Cinder was an excellent all around dog. From conformation to treeing, she did it all. She was used daily baying cattle. She is a high drive, very gritty, serious, no nonsense type of cow dog that has the all day working style that we love to see. She works very well alone or in a pack. She is also used in hog dog trials, cow dog trials, woods hog hunting and conformation. This dog has lots of pride and outstanding movement, which she passes on to her pups. She is the dog that Justin started competition hog baying with. See the awards page for a listing some of her open bay and NALC wins.

As of 5/08 Cinder has 40 NALC Championship points in Conformation, 17 in A Bay and 4 in B Bay making her a Combination Champion, as well as 42 CHDA A Bay points and all requirements for CHDA CH. Cinder was the 2009 Catahoula Hog Dog Association High Point
    Dog of the Year.

She and Justin had a quite remarkable working and show career, starting out in the hog dog bay arena in August 2002 to her retirement from competition in November 2009. Cinder was the last of the original J Cross hog dogs, winning 2 places at her first bay event and winning the belt buckle at her last, as well as the last of our original cowdog pack, it's a chapter that is quite hard to see close. After 6 weeks of battling illnesses associated with older working dogs, and ultimately kidney failure, Justin and I decided the last kindness we could give her was love enough to not make her suffer any longer with things she couldn't beat.
